Can I just say that I love this because of how their journeys are so similar, how they are similar. You see in the first Parallel that they’ve both lost something important to them. Damon lost Katherine, and Elena lost her parents. Both were heartbroken with out them. In the second one you see how they felt when they thought they were losing each other. Damon didn’t physically lose Elena of course. It’s not like she was going to die, but he lost her in the sense that she would never be his Elena, only Stefan’s. Elena of course thought she was going to lose, lose Damon and It’s beautiful to see how they both react to that. How sad they both look, and the single tear that falls down their face. You see without each other they would be nothing. The third parallel is beautiful too because you see how two different worlds collide. Damon is from 1864 and Elena’s not. If Damon never turned they wouldn’t have ever met. So it’s nice to see how 1864 Damon would have acted around Elena, and how present day Damon would act around 1864 Elena. In the forth parallel you see why we call them twin flames. They both think the same way, and get out their anger in the same way. Damon’s anger is heightened now that he is a vampire, but as a human his level was the same as Elena’s. You see how they both jump at the person who’s fault it was. How the blame immediately comes out of them. They are the same in their frustration with others, even the people they love, and how their rage can consume them both. In the fifth parallel they both are having trouble with love. Damon loves Elena, even though that is obvious he doesn’t know how to act on it. The only other love he had was Katherine who used him, and manipulated him, now that he’s been used he doesn’t know how to deal with true love. Elena, she has only truly loved Stefan, and yet she doesn’t know how to act on that either. She doesn’t want to turn for him because even though she loves him, she’s still young she and hasn’t experienced anything that life has to offer. So she doesn’t know how to act on her love and neither does he. In the sixth parallel they are both denying how they feel about each other, they’re trying to push it out of their minds as if it’ll make it not true. As if their denial will change how they truly feel for each other. In this parallel you experience how stubborn these two real are. Their stubbornness is something else that makes them alike. In the final parallels Elena and Damon are both experiencing their first loves. You see in the final one how they held Stefan and Katherine close. Touching them gingerly and compassionately. You see the love in their eyes, and the hope they have for each other and the future. In the first of the three parallels you see how they’ve both been hurt by their loves and how they deal with it. Damon who has searched for Katherine for 145 years, has now been told that she had never loved him. Elena who had been searching for Stefan for the entire summer, has no found out that he doesn’t want to be found. He doesn’t want her anymore. They’re both heartbroken and left alone to endure the pain that had just been stowed upon them. In the middle parallel you see how they both finally let their loved ones go. Damon closed the door on and Katherine and Elena did the same with Stefan. After 145 years and one summer they both realize that they need to move on, that they’re not going to wait for Stefan and Katherine forever. These parallels are truly beautiful and show the development of Damon and Elena as equals colliding together, or in other words Twin Flames merging together to create one. They are both different in some ways, but at the same time they are alike.
